Hermon,
Statue indifférente au temps jadis, perle de roche que les hommes furieux convoitent,
s’agrippent avec avidité à tes aspérités, s’engouffrent dans chacune de tes failles, mais seules
les humeurs du temps savent te dompter. Certains t’ont pris en trophée, d’autres en refuge ou
en adoration. Les plus sages restent à tes pieds, d’où ils peuvent admirer ton sommet, qu’ils
savent trop précieux pour piétiné. Belle verte au printemps sur laquelle les herbes courent, je
te savoure. Mais je l’avoue je ne te connais qu’en rêves, ceux que tu berces de tes histoires
muettes.

Hermon,
Statue indifferent to times gone by, pearl of rock that furious men covet, greedily grasping
your rough edges, rushing into each of your faults, but only the moods of time know how to
tame you. Some took you as a trophy, others as refuge or adoration. The wisest stay at your
feet, from where they can admire your peaks, which they know are too precious to trample.
Beautiful green in spring on which the grasses run, I savor you. But I admit, I only know you
in dreams, the ones you lull with your silent stories.

Sarah Younan is a french-lebanese journalist based in Paris. She works as a freelancer in different sectors such as tourism, tech and water issues. Besides this, she is working on writing a podcast and documentary project  (not published yet) on mixed-race identities where she invokes the imaginary territories that create our internal cartography as an identity resource when we are crossed by several origins.
