Shatha Almutawa

The daughter of a Kuwaiti mother and an Emirati father, Shatha grew up between Dubai and Kuwait. She received her BA from Mount Holyoke College in the US and her MA and PhD from the University of Chicago. She taught at various universities in the US before and after receiving her PhD, most recently as an assistant professor at American University in Washington, DC. In 2023, she established Kutubna Cultural Center to celebrate Khaleeji writing and scholarship.
